A man has reportedly died after his car collided with a heavy goods vehicle at an Angus accident black-spot.
He was cut free from the wreckage of his Skoda car by firefighters but was sadly pronounced dead at the roadside a short time later.
The 65 year old man, who has not been identified, was driving between Forfar and Brechin when the collision took place near to the Careston junction.
A 30-year-old female passenger in the car was taken to Ninewells hospital in Dundee but was not thought to be seriously injured.
The lorry driver, believed to be from Aberdeeenshire, escaped unhurt.
The accident took place at around 6.20pm and saw five fire appliances called to the scene by road traffic officers.

The road was closed to northbound traffic until 1am to allow investigations to take place.
