VIDEO: Footage shows car overturned on A90 as sleet and snow causes chaos

Rain, sleet and snow are causing serious travel problems across the north of Scotland this morning.

The A9 and A90 have both been particularly badly hit, with snow lying on both roads.

A car has overturned on the A90 just south of Laurencekirk, with police and ambulance crews currently on the scene.

The four people travelling in the car fortunately escaped unscathed.

Snow is now lying on both sides of the road, while parts of the A90 have also been hit with flooding.

Drivers are also warned to avoid the A82 as weather conditions cause chaos on the road.

The whole of the UK has been placed on a yellow “severe” weather warning by the Met Office.

The forecaster is warning of snow and ice in Grampian and the Highlands and Islands.

Orkney and Shetland are the only parts of the UK not covered by the weather warning.

Parts of inland Aberdeenshire are expected to see snowfall throughout today and tomorrow morning.

The B974 Cairn O’ Mount road has been closed due to drifting snow, as has the A93 Ballater to Perth road at Glenshee.

Likewise Inverness and much of the Highlands are being warned of snowfall during the same timeframe.

In Aberdeen, snow could descend on the city between 4pm and 5pm.
