It was a night of glitz, glamour and all things pop and rock as the Brit Awards 2015 got underway tonight.
But one unfortunate incident took the shine away from the award-winners when a backing dancer inadvertently caused the Queen of pop to take a royal tumble.
Madonna had strutted onto the stage in a luxurious black cloak surrounded by a troupe of devil dancers.
As she climbed a set of stairs as part of her much-anticipated Brit routine, one of the dancers pulled her cloak back expecting it to rip off.
But a costume malfunction caused the gown to stay firmly sewed on, pulling Madonna with it, who crashed to the ground.
As the audience gasped and the music stopped playing momentarily, her loyal dancers watched – stunned – as the singer picked herself up.
But ever the true professional, Madonna carried on, showing the Brits why she deserves her royal title.
