It’s great to see Scotland Under-21s reaching the semi-finals of the Toulon Tournament.
The young Scots beat South Korea 2-1 on Saturday and France’s win over Togo means Scot Gemmill’s team won their group with seven points and progress to the last-four.
It’s very positive when the U21s can produce performances like this.
It helps to lift the standard of the Scottish game and it will get us noticed in European football. It shows that good things are going on in this country.
We are producing good young players in Scotland and they are getting a chance. The pathway is there to get into the senior side as well.
We should be applauding the young Scots for what they have done at this tournament.
They reached the semi-finals last year and have backed up that display by doing it again this year.
They play England in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
It was England who beat the Scots in the last-four a year ago.
To face the Auld Enemy in the semi-final of a major tournament will be special for these young players. Some of them will have experienced it before but others won’t have.
Having dispatched France in the group stages and then having the opportunity to eliminate England shows that the U21s are mixing it with the top teams in Europe.
