Ross County’s players are producing their best form and results of the season, but manager Jim McIntyre has warned they will face equally impressive opposition in their home match against Kilmarnock today.
County will try to stretch their unbeaten run to six games with a fourth consecutive home victory.
The recent upsurge has taken the Staggies four points above bottom side St Mirren, but Killie also have plenty to play for, with last week’s 1-0 win against the Buddies taking them within three points of the top six.
McIntyre expects a close encounter between two sides intent on maintaining momentum.
McIntyre said: “Last weekend’s win for Killie was vital for them to keep their top-six hopes alive. No doubt they’ll be looking to do the same again.
“They’ve had five draws and two wins. That tells me they’re doing a lot of things well – they’re certainly defending well.
“In one of those games as well they were down to 10 men for 45 minutes against Motherwell and held out for a 1-1 draw.
“That tells me there is a lot of character in the side. They’ve had injuries and suspensions to deal with as well throughout.
“They have players who can hurt us. They’ve got talent in their squad so we have to be at our best, we know that.”
County’s previous match against Kilmarnock produced one of their best displays of the season, the Staggies romping to a 3-0 win at Rugby Park in November.
McIntyre would love a repeat of that result and performance, adding: “We’ve got our own agenda and we’ve got to make sure we repeat recent performances and try to get three points.”
