Ross County v St Johnstone: Jim McIntyre aiming to halt Saints’ run

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre is determined to bring St Johnstone’s excellent away form to an end at Victoria Park this afternoon.

Saints make the trip to Dingwall in confident mood having won their last six games on the road in all competitions, with midfielder Michael O’Halloran this week picking up the Premiership’s player-of-the-month award for November.

County have made Victoria Park a tricky venue for opposing teams, however, winning 13 of their last 18 home fixtures.

A victory for the Staggies would move them to within three points of fourth-placed Saints and McIntyre is eager to make ground on the teams above them.

He said: “We’ve got to view the match as a way to claw back points and get in touch with St Johnstone. They’ve won their last six away from home so they’ll be coming here confident. Their away performances have been excellent – but so have ours at home.

“I don’t think there’s a lot between the teams. There are the top three who have a bit more strength in depth. For me, between the rest of the sides it’s about who puts consistent performances together.

“There are fine lines between winning and losing. We need to be more consistent as we’re having spells in games where we’re really pleased with what we’re doing, but we need to be a bit more ruthless at both ends of the pitch.”
