Turriff United skipper Cammy Bowden hopes the club can add some experienced heads for the new Highland League season.
A youthful Turriff side finished 14th in the last campaign and took some heavy defeats, which Bowden feels was a difficult learning experience.
Bowden was named the players’ player and fans’ player of the year at the club’s end-of-season awards, despite him citing it as one of his most disappointing years at The Haughs.
He was part of the side that challenged at the top of the Highland League during the 2014-15 campaign, before a reduction in the budget forced a change in approach.
Manager Kris Hunter has instead turned to youth, which Bowden hopes can be added to for whenever the new campaign begins.
He said: “Adding a few experienced guys would stand us in good stead, just to help those young lads coming into the game.
“The club had to change their approach and a lot of good, experienced players moved on. We’ve got a lot of young lads – the majority of the team are in their 20s or teens.
“It will take a few seasons for Turriff, with the young squad, to gain the experience to challenge again.”
