SPFL transfer latest: Celtic to move for third top scorer in Eredivisie, Hibs sign McGinn

This afternoon Aberdeen were in Europa League action in Kazakhstan, but while the Dons were playing a Europa League tie in Asia, it appears Celtic have been scouring Europe for news recruits and have found themselves a centre forward.

A former Ross County man looks like he could be heading to the Championship, while Ipswich are keen on adding a promising Hearts youngster.

And in a day of rumours, we have also seen a number of completed deals, with Caley Thistle, Hibs and Livingston all strengthening their squads.

Here’s a quick look at today’s transfer news.

• Celtic have stepped up their interest in the third top scorer in last season’s Eredivisie.
  Den Haag striker Michiel Kramer netted 17 goals last season and looked set to join Baniy in the United Arab Emirates, however, that deal has fallen through and the Hoops will now compete with Sheffield Wednesday for the 26-year-old’s signature. (Voetbal)

• Former Ross County defender Steven Saunders is a target for Championship side Queen of the South. (Daily Record)

• Brentford have yet to receive a bid for rumoured Rangers target Toumani Diagouraga.
  The Gers had been linked with a move for the highly rated defensive midfielder but the London club have yet to receive a bid from Rangers or any of the other clubs rumoured to be interested in the 28-year-old. (Get West London)

• New Hearts signing Juwon Oshaniwa is expected in Edinburgh this evening to officially complete his move to Tynecastle. (Evening News)

• Former Motherwell defender Fraser Kerr is on trial at English League One side Oldham. (Daily Express)

• Championship side Ipswich are interested in signing Hearts defender Jordan McGhee, 19. (Daily Record)

• Caley Thistle have signed Congo attacker Andréa Mbuyi-Mutombo, who had impressed on trial.

• Hibs have signed former St Mirren midfielder John McGinn.

• Livingston have re-signed defender Declan Gallagher.

• Former Caley Thistle midfielder Andrew Shinnie has extended his contract at Birmingham City until the summer of 2018.

• Newcastle have completed the signing of defender Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht.

• Newcastle are also closing in on a deal for Northampton Town striker Ivan Toney. (BBC)

• Mario Balotelli is a target for newly promoted Serie A side Bologna who are looking to bring the 24-year-old back to Italy from Liverpool. (London Evening Standard)

• Manchester City will compete with Chelsea for the signature Everton defender John Stones, 21. The Stamford Bridge club have already had two bids rejected for the youngster. (Daily Mirror)

• Stoke City are looking to add Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko, 25, and Barcelona winger Adama Traore, 19. (Stoke Sentinel)

• Leicester City are hoping to beat Bayer Leverkusen and Marseille to the £11m signing of Chile midfielder Charles Aranguiz from Brazilian club Internacional. (Sun)

• Despite having a £12million bid rejected, Newcastle are still interested in signing Marseille winger Florian Thauvin, 22. (Daily Express)
