Polworth winner settles seven goal thriller in Caley Thistle’s favour

Caley Thistle moved into the top six in stunning fashion as they survived a Hamilton fightback before netting an injury time winner in a seven goal thriller at New Douglas Park.
Liam Polworth’s stunning later winner gave Caley Jags all three points in a match which produced three goals in the final three minutes.
Greg Tansey’s powerful free kick gave Inverness a half-time lead before Polworth doubled their lead with a fine goal six minutes into the second half.
But Inverness, who lost a two-goal lead on Boxing Day at Aberdeen, found history repeating itself as Carlton Morris pulled a goal back before Ziggy Gordon headed home the equaliser nine minutes from time.
Unlike the 2-2 draw at Pittodrie, the action did not end with the home side’s equaliser as Tansey’s free kick in the 88th minute put Inverness in front only for Christian Nade to equalise within a minute for the home side.
With the match seemingly heading for a draw, however, there would be one final twist with Polworth producing it thanks to a long range effort in injury-time to secure a remarkable win for John Hughes’ side.
