Take That singer Gary Barlow has said he is “praying for everyone affected” following an earthquake that has shaken Indonesian islands including Bali, where he is currently on holiday.

The 47-year-old posted an update after a quake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck, the second one to have hit following a series of quakes in Lombok on July 29.

He tweeted: “This morning I bumped into so many British families leaving Bali. How lucky we are to have that choice. I’ve had the misfortune of being in 7 earthquakes but none have felt more deep and raw as last nights. Followed by numerous after shocks. Praying for everyone affected”.

In an earlier post, he wrote: “Thank you for your concern – we’re all fine – a bit shaken up.”

The singer also shared an update on Instagram as he posted a photograph of himself on holiday.

He wrote: “Thank you Bali for a peaceful and meaningful break. Such a shame it all came to an abrupt end. Praying for the beautiful people of this region who’ve been affected by the Earthquake.”

American singer John Legend and his wife, model and TV star Chrissy Teigen, are also on holiday in Indonesia and have shared updates on social media.

In one of a series of tweets, Teigen wrote: “Another aftershock just now. probably the 8th one we have felt since the big one last night. we are safe, up high and nothing around us. thinking about everyone around us and in Lombok especially.”

The Lip Sync Battle host is holidaying with Legend and their two young children Luna and Miles.

Hacksaw Ridge actress Teresa Palmer is also among the celebrities on holiday.

She tweeted: “We felt it here in Ubud and it was VIOLENT. We are staying in a tree house and it was swaying like crazy. Very scary. Stay safe everyone.”

In a second tweet, she wrote: “It was very scary and we are in Bali, I can’t imagine how it must’ve felt to those closer to Lombok. Thinking of everyone affected.”

Latest reports from authorities said that at least 91 people had been killed in the latest earthquake.
