Brian McFadden has missed out on a place in the Dancing On Ice finale after he fell in the skate-off.

The Westlife star was shown the door after a skate-off against Saara Aalto during Sunday evening’s semi-final.

He fell during his performance and judges Ashley Banjo, Jason Gardiner, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean chose to save Aalto.

“It’s been amazing,” said McFadden. “We have had such a great time.”

He also apologised to his skating partner Alex Murphy for his tumble.

Each contestant had to skate twice in the semi-final and McFadden had earned some of his highest ever marks.

He slid across the ice on his knees in delight after he was awarded 36.5 out of 40 for his second skate of the night, and said: “I can go home happy now.”

Three contestants now go through to the final of the ITV show – Aalto, Wes Nelson and James Jordan.

Former Strictly star Jordan impressed the panel during Sunday’s show – earning perfect scores for each of his two routines.

He seemed overwhelmed as the judges awarded him perfect 10s for his performances, and the rink was lit up gold to mark his achievement.

“I’m not often speechless, I’m normally quite gobby,” he said.

Gardiner said Jordan provided a “goosebump moment” with his first routine and that it was the most “masterful” solo skate so far.

Dancing On Ice continues on ITV.
