A north-east woman has launched a search for her beloved brother – who she has not heard from for more than four years.
Anne Harper lost contact with her older sibling, Simon Mcaleer after a visit in 2011, but a recent health scare has prompted her to try and track him down.
The 60-year-old, of Inverurie, has not heard from her brother since he moved from the town to the Torry area of Aberdeen several years ago.
Her search began last month, when she put an advert in the paper, but with no luck and now she is appealing to anyone who might know her brother to help reunite them.
The retired welder, who was recently hospitalised after falling into a diabetic coma, is not even sure if Mr Mcaleer lives at the same address, and has no contact number for him.
She said: “We lost contact with one another. I am just hoping that by the grace of God he is OK.
“I am a bit worried about him because I have been ill myself and I just wanted him to know that I had been ill and if he’d like to come see me.
“I was in a coma for five days and they thought I would never come out of it.
“I just want to know if he is OK or if he is not OK. I haven’t even got a photo of my brother, he took all his stuff when he want to stay in Aberdeen.
“I tried the Salvation Army and I spoke to the police a while ago and I was told it was best to wait and see if he gets in contact.
He didn’t know I moved house but my phone number is still the same.”
The siblings are originally from Bridgeton, Glasgow, and retired Mr Mcaleer used to be in the French Foreign Legion.
Mrs Harper moved to Inverurie in 1972 and her brother moved north with her.
She claimed, that of the whole family, she is “the only one that cares” for her brother.
She added: “He sort of keeps to himself and I don’t really know any of his pals. This is a last resort.”
