Corrie viewers shocked as David Platt pummels Gary Windass in boxing ring

Coronation Street viewers were stunned as troubled David Platt brutally beat up Gary Windass in a charity boxing match.

David (Jack P Shepherd) has been struggling to cope after he was raped by Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton).

In Monday night’s episodes of the ITV soap his anger erupted in the ring and he pummelled Gary (Mikey North) – knocking him out and causing a bleed on the brain.

With Gary’s life hanging in the balance, David is now facing a possible murder charge.

Fans of the soap were horrified at the turn the plot had taken.

One person said on Twitter: “Oh nooooooooooo, David @JackPShepherd88 what have you done.”

“MY HEART JUST WENT INTO MY THROAT, That looked so terrifying with David and Gary,” said another.

“OMG WHAT HAS DAVID DONE!” tweeted another shocked fan.

Many viewers also urged David to open up about the assault.

One fan said: “David please talk to imran or anyone, The police! This is really hurts.”

“David should have battered Josh then told the police why,” suggested another.

Coronation Street continues on ITV.
