Ram lamb averages were up £133 on the year, for 20 more sold, at the Scottish Texel Club’s sale at Lanark.
It was a day to remember for Aberdeenshire’s Scott Michie, who works for the Howies at West Knock Farm, Stuartfield, Peterhead. He owns just one ewe in his Scotsman flock, which he flushed successfully last year, producing, among others, his three Lanark entries – Scotsman Avicii, Scotsman Apollo and Scotsman Ace.
AI sons of the £60,000 Strathbogie Terminator, out of an Oberstown Usain Bolt daughter, they sold at 5,200gn, 4,500gn and 3,200gn, all across the water to Northern Ireland.
Avicii and Ace both sold to the same group, including Paul O’Connor, Drumgooland; Alistair Gault, Forkins; Rodger Strawbridge, Tamnamoney and Sam McAuley, Whitepark, while Apollo was knocked down to Stewart Ferris, Dromore, Co Down.
Achieving the day’s second top price of 4,600gn, was Ettrick Above And Beyond, from Gordon and David Gray’s Selkirk-based flock.
A son of the 60,000gn Clinterty Yuga Khan, he sold in a two-way split to Iain Minto, Townhead, Dolphinton, and Meikle Jackson, Wolfclyde, Biggar.
The Clark family’s Garngour consignment, from Lesmahagow, topped at 2,600gn, with Garngour Alladin, by Halbeath VIP, selling to Cameron Gauld, Cairnam, Auchterarder.
Robbie Wilson, North Dorlaithers, Turriff, achieved a top of 1,700gn, for Milnbank Ally-cat, a Strathbogie Yes Sir son which sold to N Myles, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal.
While Graham Morrison’s Deveronvale lambs, from Cornhill, Banff, sold to 1,500gn, for another Strathbogie Yes Sir son, Deveronvale Areo, which went to Richard Currie’s Tullagh flock at Ballymena.
Leading the way at the Beltex Scotland show and sale at Lanark was a shearling ram from Alasdair Maclean’s Tiree-based flock, selling at 2,400gn.

Aberdeenshire’s Stuart Wood sold Woodies Collision, a Glenkeen Sanders son, for 1,500gn to the Hamiltons at Mid Shawtonhill, Chapelton, Strathaven.
Overall champion at the pre-sale show was Black Jack Blade, a gimmer from Ross and Kirsty Williams, Upper Tullochbeg, Huntly. This Lugate Arex daughter, sold at 1,500gn to K Preston, Omagh, Co Tyrone.
The reserve overall champion was the gimmer Muirton Brick Hard, from Jimmy Young, Muirton Corse, Alford, which sold at 550gn to Matthew Burleigh, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
