Global Energy Group (GEG) has officially launched the new subsidiary formed through its recent acquisition of Apollo Offshore Engineering.

The brownfield engineering division of Aberdeen-based Apollo and the integrity and construction arm of Inverness-headquartered GEG were merged to create a new company, Global Engineering and Construction (Global E&C)

Financial terms of the deal with Apollo’s fomer bosses were not disclosed in March, when GEG revealed its latest acquisition.

GEG said Global E&C, employing about 900 people, was “uniquely positioned” to deliver improved efficiency and more cost-effective brownfield solutions for North Sea oil and gas operators.

The launch and new identity were celebrated at an event at Global E&C’s 9,500sq ft Dyce facility.

Global E&C managing director Derek Mitchell said: “It is something we’ve been working towards for a number of months.

“We are starting to realise some of the value which underpinned the investment made by GEG earlier this year.”

Corporate development director Terry Allan added: “The oil and gas market in the UK continues to evolve and we must do the same in order to stay relevant.

“We’ve seen some signs of recovery recently and, although it is very positive to see more projects being sanctioned, we need to be relentless in our focus on driving further improvements across all Opex (operational expenditure) related activities.

“Global E&C is exclusively focused on the UK oil and gas brownfield market and we’ve designed our organisation from bottom up to deliver efficiencies in this space.”
