A “home grown Aberdeen success story” is relocating to multimillion-pound new offices in the city’s ABZ Business Park after signing a tenancy deal.

The latest occupier to choose ABZ is energy service firm AFS Technologies, which is currently based in Stoneywood Road, Dyce.

AFS operations director Alasdair MacNeil said the move was another key stage in the history of the firm.

He added: “We were established more than 30 years ago, and as a business with healthy growth prospects we need to plan for the next 30 years and beyond.

“Moving to ABZ is an important move in the natural development of AFS, and the excellent facilities will help us meet expansion targets.”

AFS specialises in small bore tubing system training, inspection, remedial work, installation, assemblies and relates services for the oil and gas industry.

MTM Construction has started work on the new building, which comprises 12,000 square feet of office accommodation and 6,000sq ft of workshops on two levels, at 3 International Avenue.

The project is expected to complete in November, with AFS moving in soon after.

Confirmation that AFS has chosen the 54-acre business park near Aberdeen International Airport as its new home follows a recent announcement that Marriott International will invest £15million in a 200-bedroom Marriott Moxy Hotel – one of the first of the Moxy brand to be located in the UK – at ABZ.

Other occupiers already committed to ABZ include Bowtech Products, Axiom Process Management, i2 Office and Dominvus Group.

Tim Stevenson, director of site owners and developer ABZ Developments, said: “AFS Technologies is a home-grown Aberdeen success story which needs 21st century accommodation to accommodate the next phase of its growth plans.

“We are delighted they have opted to move to ABZ and we look forward to delivering a turnkey facility which matches their ambitions.”
