Aberdeen-based workplace design firm Space Solutions has reported a record-breaking start to the year for its relocation and installation division.

Space said it successfully relocated more than 7,500 people during the first three months of 2014, prompting it to rebrand the division as Corporate Moves.

In Aberdeen, the company’s relocations team helped to move more than 70% of the tenants taking up occupancy at the new Prime Four business park at Kingswells.

Space said it had also provided operational assistance for the installation of furniture in buildings at Prime Four.

Relocations business in the central belt is also healthy and becoming increasingly technical in nature, it added.

The company has recently carried out moves for big employers such as Scottish Water, Sky, Aberdeen Asset Management, SQA and Norlands Managed Services.

Space said it had invested £100,000 in the rebranding, which is expected to help deliver a 20% increase in annual turnover at the relocations business after double-digit growth over the past two years.

Group managing director Steve Judge said: “Rebranding was key to identifying the division’s unique core values and brand message.

“Corporate Moves will now be empowered to not only support Space Solutions but also attract new business.”

The new name is being rolled out across the relocation arm’s 60 uniformed staff, 16 vans and two main offices.

Mr Judge said Space’s furniture installations division was still the group’s biggest growth area.

He added: “Advances in technology have meant a change to the look of a workplace, for example big desks for large IT monitors are less popular now.

“Our team of installation specialists work closely with our IT move technicians to ensure that commercial moves or upgrades result in zero downtime for staff and minimal client time managing the process.”
