Royal gift of seafood for Charles and Camilla

The Scottish Seafood Association have met with the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay to give the royal couple a huge spread of Scottish seafood at Birkhall, their Scottish residence in Deeside.

In this visit by the the association’s leaders to present the gift of seafood, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall received a bounty of wild fish and shellfish including lemon sole, cod, lobster, trout, and traditional cullen skink.

Andrew Charles of J Charles fish merchants said: “It was really refreshing to get such a warm welcome and such positive feedback for our Scottish fish processing industry.

“The success of our Industry depends on getting our message across on how well all aspects of our industry is managed sustainably and environmentally.

“To have the support of The Duke of Rothesay gives our entire Industry a welcome boost.”

Alan Downies from Downies of Whitehills added: “It was a pleasure to meet Their Royal Highnesses once again and give them a selection of quality Scottish seafood from Downies of Whitehills.

“They both seemed genuinely interested in the challenges faced by both the fishing & processing industry and The Duke of Rothesay was keen to become involved in a number of initiatives to promote quality Scottish seafood.”

Doug Rennie of Nolan Seafoods said: “It was an honour to be part of the presentation and once again His Royal Highness was found to be very knowledgeable with regards to industry.

“I believe we can have some positive follow up on some of his training projects and look forward to further engagement”
