What: Belford 50:150, an event organised to celebrate 150 years of the Belford Hospital, Fort William.

Where: The Nevis Centre, Fort William.

Who: Dr Patrick Byrne and Miss Sarah Prince, consultants at the hospital, were joined by more than 350 people from around the world, including Ms Holly Michael – a descendant of Andrew Belford, after whom the hospital was named – who flew in from Portland, Oregon. Many guests had previously worked at the hospital, some of whom are pictured here.

Why: The Belford Hospital celebrated 150 years since its opening, and also 50 years on the current site. To commemorate these milestones, Dr Byrne and Miss Prince held an International Rural Medical Conference over four days, with a huge ceilidh and party.

The event was a success beyond the organisers’ aspirations and they were honoured that so many global leaders in healthcare attended.
