House with six appeal

Take a trip to Strichen and find a house that offers you more than you could ever imagine, writes Cheryl Livingstone

Take a look at this house and guess how much it would cost if it was in Aberdeen. You would definitely be above the £450,000 mark at least.

So you will be surprised to hear that you can get this whopping big six-bedroom home for just £195,000.

Findon House is located at 36 High Street, Strichen, and is a very impressive linked traditional granite villa.

Spanning three floors, it sits in a great location in the centre of the village, which has a variety of shops and hotels and a village hall as well as a primary school and secondary schooling provided at nearby Mintlaw Academy.

The house is the perfect blend of traditional and modern, thanks to the love and time the current owners have put into upgrading it.

They have refurbished the whole property and transformed it into a superb modern family home yet sympathetically retained original features such as stripped doors, a beautiful staircase with wooden balustrade and stained-glass window, high skirtings and cornicing. It means that as well as being stylish and elegant, this period home has retained its charm and character.

There are many rooms of note in this house, too many to mention them all, so I will pick my favourites. Top of my list has to be the lounge, which is a bright and airy room thanks to a large window and is lovely and cosy thanks to a beautiful feature fireplace incorporating a multi-fuel stove.

I also love the rear sitting room which would make a great family room, the large kitchen, dining and family room, definitely the heart of the house, and the first-floor sitting room which has a granite fireplace, oak laminate flooring and ceiling rose.

Other rooms sure to impress are the sumptuous bathroom with a spa bath and a third sitting room on the second floor, which could also be used as a bedsit room.

Outside, the rear garden is fully enclosed, making it not only private but safe for children and pets, and is low maintenance with a paved area, stone chipped area and lawn.
