House only matched by stunning garden

Live a life of leisure at this beautiful home in Moray, writes Cheryl Livingstone

When the weather is good, I love nothing more than heading to the beach or to my local park to soak up the sun.

Mostly because my garden isn’t the most desirable of locations. If I had a garden like this one at Hammer Lodge, Clochan, Buckie, I definitely would never leave it.

The four-bedroom detached country house is surrounded by two acres of stunning landscaped gardens with established trees. The highlight is a man-made 25-year-old pond which was once stocked with brown trout and now attracts wildlife including resident stalks, wild ducks and smaller water fowl.

The house itself is equally impressive as its setting.

Architecturally designed and then completed by Spence and Grant in 2011, the house – on the market for offers over £350,000 – has fantastic rural and sea views as well as a host of interesting features inside.

It’s clear that no expense has been spared when creating this exceptional family home – and there has been plenty of attention to detail also.

One of the most impressive rooms is the spacious dining kitchen which has been fitted with a generous selection of custom-built base and wall units with solid-oak and granite worktops. There is even more surface space in the form of an island and there is ample room for a large dining table and up to eight chairs.

French doors lead you out to the side of the property and bring the outside in during the summer months.

The family area with vaulted ceiling is also a great room and features a multi-fuel stove situated on a Caithness slate hearth and french doors leading to the front of the house.

Upstairs, the master bedroom is bright and spacious and a front-facing window means you can wake up to beautiful views. It also has its own dressing room and en-suite with Jacuzzi bath.

The jewel in this home’s crown, however, is its lounge. This spectacular room features wall-to-ceiling windows offering fantastic rural views of the countryside and the landscaped gardens. It is a great room for both relaxing and entertaining friends and guests.
