A fishing boat was towed to safety during a rescue mission that lasted nearly 11 hours.
A coastguard spokesman said the Barra lifeboat was called to assist at 7.11pm yesterday after the stricken vessel became jammed around 16 miles south of Barra Head.
There were six people on board.
The spokesman said: “The difficult weather conditions made it very challenging. They arrived back safely at North Bay at around 6am.”
