Decision left me dazed

Decision left me dazed

Caley Thistle midfielder Ross Draper was left bemused after his side had a first-half goal disallowed by the officials as Inverness lost for the first time at home this season in a 2-1 defeat against Partick Thistle yesterday.

Draper, pictured, was ruled to have taken a short corner incorrectly, but was only penalised after Aaron Doran had put the ball in the net by referee Euan Norris and his assistant Stuart Stevenson.

Kris Doolan scored in both halves for Partick, with Gary Warren equalising just after the break, but Draper felt the Caley Jags did not do enough to prolong their unbeaten home run despite Doran and also captain Richie Foran having goals chalked off. He said: “The assistant referee said it was for taking two touches of the ball at the corner – that is what he said. I just don’t understand. Why did the flag not go straight up as soon as Aaron Doran made contact with the ball?

“It is frustrating when decisions like that go against you. It would have been an important goal.

“It may have been a different game had that gone in, but we will never know.

“If we had played really well and that was what cost us the game, it would have been a little bit more frustrating.

“But we have not played to our full ability right across the team and that is the most frustrating part, rather than a decision we can’t do anything about.”

Draper is keen to make up for the defeat against rivals Ross County in Dingwall on Friday night.

He added: “We had a chat in the changing room and accepted we were not good enough. We did not win enough in midfield, we did not create enough further forward, we hit a brick wall at times.

“Defensively we were not great so there are things to work on.”
