UKIP’s David Coburn’s opening line in this evening’s Scottish Leaders Debate in Aberdeen was to claim Alex Salmond is leader of the SNP.
The audience murmured disapproval, SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon rolled her eyes in disbelief and social media screamed in anger.
Twitter users have never taken kindly to inaccurate statements, particularly when they are deliberately inflammatory, and tonight was not exception.
