A pair of Aberdeen cyclists got themselves into a sticky situation after signing up to have their legs waxed as part of a charity fundraiser.

Graham Taylor and Lewis Adam turned up at Arrdeir House on Saturday morning, where many of their fellow bikers watched on in delight as beautician Sarah Belle carried out the work.

The duo managed to raise around £775 from their efforts, which will now go to the charity which offers long-term accommodation to adults with mental health conditions.

Mr Adam, of the Blue Angels cycling group, even went beyond the call of duty as he opted to have his chest waxed.

Mr Taylor, of the Road Mutts group, said afterwards: “It was a really good event – the leg wax was okay, but some bits were nippier than others.

“As a club, we like to do a lot for charity.”

The event was organised by his wife Sarah, who added: “Around 30 people turned up for the two local motorcycle groups to watch the pair get waxed.

“It’s important to raise money for the charity and also raise awareness about mental health.”

The team leader of Arrdeir House, Doreen Murray, was very pleased with the fundraising efforts of the cycling duo.

She explained where the money they raised could go and what difference it would make.

She said: “These guys are excellent, and our service users loved the site of the bikers. It looks as if they have managed to raise around £775.

“This will be used as amenity money and may go on numerous projects we’ve got going on.

“We’ve recently had a gazebo donated to us, but we have got no base for it, so it may go on that.

“It will also be used to enable our service users to get out and about more on trips, which we often can’t afford.”
