A man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in Aberdeen city centre.
The 33-year-old was arrested by police on Tuesday following an incident on Shiprow, outside Vue Cinema and the nearby NCP car park.
Multiple police cars, a rapid-response paramedic vehicle and an ambulance were called to the scene shortly after noon and the area was cordoned off for a number of hours.
Around nine police vehicles and a further two ambulance units were seen at the scene as emergency crews worked to bring the situation under control.
A 30-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A woman was also treated at the scene by paramedics, although it is understood she was not injured in the incident.
Around three hours after officers were first called to the area, Police Scotland confirmed a 33-year-old man had been detained. He was later charged in connection with the incident.
Inspector Chris Kerr, who had previously urged witnesses to come forward, said he was grateful to residents for their support while officers continue to piece together the circumstances.
He added: “We would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation while inquiries are carried out into the incident.”
North-east MSP Tom Mason said local people would be “extremely worried” the attack could represent a growing trend of violence in the Granite City.
It follows a brutal daytime assault in the Sinclair Road area of Torry on Monday evening in which a man was left with serous injuries. Police say they are treating the incident as attempted murder.
Mr Mason added: “I have written to the Chief Superintendent Campbell Thomson, Police Scotland Divisional Commander for the north-east, expressing my grave concern at these development.
“I have asked what action Police Scotland are taking in our communities to combat this violence, and also for the most recent violent crime statistics for the Aberdeen area to establish whether or not this is part of a growing trend.”
