Police have arrested a man in connection with road traffic offences
A man has been arrested amid a police investigation into a car fire in the north-east countryside.
Reports of the blaze, on the A948 Ellon to Auchnagatt road, were received by police in the early hours of yesterday morning.
No one was found within the silver Citroen Saxo which was left burnt out.
A police spokesman confirmed that inquiries were ongoing but said that a 23-year-old man had been arrested “in connection with road traffic offences”.
The fire service was called to the incident near Auchnagatt at 2.20am.
A spokeswoman for the service said firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera during the operation.
Crews were sent from Ellon and Maud and reported back that the flames were under control within about 30 minutes.
