Police have confirmed that the death of a man in the Torry area of Aberdeen yesterday is being treated as suspicious.

They were called to a property in Balnagask Avenue shortly after 2pm yesterday following the discovery of a man’s body.

The man is understood to be a 49-year-old Polish national, and enquiries are currently under way to trace his next of kin.

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward. We are especially interested in talking to anyone who was in the area between 0900 and 1400 hrs yesterday, Monday the 29th September.

“Did you hear or see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary? If you did we would like you to come forward and speak to us. Our enquiry is at a relatively early stage and that’s why it’s essential that we gather as much information from the local community as possible.

“There will be a large police presence in the area carrying out enquiries. We understand that this has been an unsettling incident for the local community, however incidents of this nature are unusual and all resources necessary will be dedicated to resolving this incident.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.
