Police have renewed their call for witnesses to a fatal car crash on the A952 Mintlaw to Toll of Birness road.
The accident, which involved a grey Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Ford Focus C-Max, happened near Clola in Aberdeenshire at about 10.20pm on Friday night.
The male driver of the Vauxhall Corsa died at the scene.
The female passenger was conveyed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
The lone female occupant of the Ford Focus was also conveyed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
The road was closed for 10 hours whilst a detailed examination was conducted at the scene and local diversions were put in place.
Sergeant David Pirie, of the Road Policing Department, said: “This was a tragic incident, which has resulted in the death of a local man.
“Our investigation into the collision and the circumstances leading up to it are progressing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle in the lead up to it to contact us on 101.”
