A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious assault where two men were attacked on Summer Street in Aberdeen.
Summer Street was sealed off overnight between Little Chapel Street and The Braided Fig restaurant while an investigation was launched on Thursday evening.
Photos from the scene showed officers and forensic teams carrying out an investigation.
Police had earlier released a statement saying the incident was being treated as attempted murder. However, they have now said this was made in error.
It is being treated as a serious assault.
The police received reports of two men being assaulted at 2.10pm on Thursday.
A spokesman said: “We received a report of two men having been assaulted in the Union Wynd area of Aberdeen around 2.10pm on Thursday, July 28.
“One of the men was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to their injuries.
“A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, August 1.”
A local resident said: “Coming home just after 4pm and I saw two or three ambulances and three police cars and wondered what had happened.”
Another neighbour said: “I was walking to work at 3.35pm and the road was open at the time.”
Summer Street remained closed on Friday
Summer Street remained closed with police still present in the area until about 12noon the following day.
Over the course of two days, the road was closed for around 17 hours.
