Video: Around 400 Still Game fans meet the stars at Aberdeen bottle signing

Still Game mania hit Aberdeen this evening, with around 400 people queuing down Union Street to meet Craiglang duo Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade.

The comedy pair, played by actors Ford Kiernan (Jack) and Greg Hemphill (Victor) were in the Granite City as part of celebrations to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary.

They met adoring fans at Co-op on Union Street, who were able to buy Jack and Victor’s Scotch Whisky and Still Gin to be signed.

Earlier in the day, Jack and Victor were also in Edinburgh and Dundee signing their booze.

Due to Aberdeen traffic, the pair arrived at the Union Street shop about 20 minutes late but were excited to be in the city.

‘Absolutely fantastic to be back’

Speaking to the Press & Journal, Mr Kiernan said it was “absolutely fantastic to be back, love it”, with Mr Ford adding: “I used to come here all the time and played the Lemon Tree for many, many years. We loved the journey every Friday we came up here, it’s great to be back.”

Talking about the fanbase of Still Game that came out to meet them, Mr Kiernan said he was “looking forward to meeting them”, while Mr Ford said they would try and meet all of the fans and “not let them get away disappointed”, adding that the last 20 years has “flown by”.

A number of fans were dressed up for the occasion, with a group of friends dressing up as Jack, Victor, Shug and “Methadone Mick”.

‘I was really excited’

Mary Dawson, whose uncle runs the pub in Glasgow that was used as the Clansman’s exterior from series one to four said: “I was really excited, as I am for the rest of the cast coming up in November“.

Explaining why he was there, Still Game fan John Law said: “I’ve probably watched the whole series of Still Game about eight times, I keep on watching it, you can’t get sick of it. It’s pretty sad that it’s ended.”

After their trip to the Co-op, they are going to Italian restaurant Amarone on Union Street, where they will watch some of their greatest hits and mix drinks with fans.

Jack and Victor will head to Elgin tomorrow, where they will meet fans in Gordon & MacPhail’s in the town’s South Street between 10am and 11am.
