A number of train services have been cancelled while police deal with an incident in Dyce.

All lines have been closed as a result with the incident understood to be near the railway.

Disruption to train travel is expected to last until the end of the day.

Police have confirmed that a body was discovered in the area at around 3.30am which is having an impact on train travel.

Rail staff remain on site to assist and ensure journeys can resume as soon as possible.

Scotrail has confirmed that all local services between Inverurie and Aberdeen have been cancelled.

All journeys between Montrose and Inverurie will be terminated and start back from Aberdeen.

The line closures will also have an impact on trains to and from Inverness and Edinburgh.

Trains travelling to Aberdeen from Inverness will stop at Inverurie until further notice, while those heading north will now start at Inverurie.

This means trains will not be stopping at many north and north-east stations this morning.

Alternative travel options

Anyone who planned to travel by train today is advised to check their journey in advance.

Alternative travel arrangements have been put in place by ScotRail between Aberdeen and Inverurie.

A bus will leave Aberdeen and head to Inverurie at 45 minutes past each hour from 1.45pm.

After 5.45pm, buses will leave Aberdeen at 6.25pm, 7.45pm, 8.25pm, 9.35pm, 10pm and 11pm.

The 10pm bus will continue to Inverness.

From Inverurie to Aberdeen, a bus will leave at 35 minutes past each hour between 1.35pm and 11.35pm.

Rail tickets will also be accepted on local Stagecoach services at no extra cost, including the 10, 10B, 31, 35 and 37.

However, Stagecoach Bluebird has said its number 35 service is having to divert via Riverview Drive.
