Snapshots of Aberdeenshire’s best bits are being posted through letterboxes across the UK as part of the latest drive to promote the region.

Brochures featuring stunning images of the north-east, including Dunnottar Castle at Stonehaven, Burn O’Vat at Dinnet and the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses in Fraserburgh, are being posted out to 37,000 addresses.

The campaign, aimed to inspire people to visit Aberdeenshire this spring and summer, has been launched by VisitScotland in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council and local destination management organisations.

As well as the brochure, the organisations will also be heavily promoting the region’s beauty spots and line-up of events online.

Highlights detailed include dolphin spotting on the Banff coast, Trump International Golf Links at Balmedie, ice cream tasting at Portsoy and the various castle and coastal trails.

The Banchory Show, the Royal Deeside Golf Classic, the Huntly Hairst Food and Farming Festival and the popular Scottish Traditional Boat Festival in Portsoy are also given a mention.

Philip Smith, regional director for VisitScotland, said: “Aberdeenshire is always a popular choice among visitors but it is important to keep momentum going following the major events of 2014. Tourism is at the heart of the region’s economy, creating jobs and sustaining communities.

“With our outstanding natural larder taking centre stage during the Year of Food and Drink 2015, this campaign offers visitors, from both Scotland and further afield, just a taste of the many breaks full of brilliant moments Aberdeenshire can offer.”
