Scottish airline Loganair has given has gifted free flights to all passengers flying from Aberdeen to Dublin to celebrate the first anniversary of the route.

The airline welcomed passengers at Aberdeen Airport on Sunday with the giveaway.

All 72 lucky passengers on the full flight were given Loganair Clan points to the value of their flight, allowing them to book a further flight for free.

They also handed out Tunnock’s Teacakes, which are served with a hot complimentary drink onboard.

Passengers flying with any other airline from Aberdeen to Dublin were also given a voucher for a free flight with Loganair, providing further connectivity from the airport to the capital of Ireland.

The news comes after Loganair was put up for sale earlier this month by the Bond brothers, who have been majority owners since 2012.

Loganair carries more than a million passengers a year on up to 1,000 flights a week.

Aberdeen to Dublin proves a popular route

The airline has been operating its Aberdeen to Dublin service since autumn 2021 and has so far flown almost 25,000 passengers along the route.

Just last month, the airline announced that it would deploy the largest aircraft in its fleet to the service due to popular demand.

It is projecting to offer almost 50,000 seats on the route in the year ahead, almost twice as many as in its first year.

The one-hour and 35-minute flight operates six times per week Sunday to Friday.

Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “In true Loganair spirit, we thought we would reward our customers with a free flight to celebrate this milestone.

“We very much look forward to welcoming passengers on board our larger aircraft from Monday to enable even more customers to enjoy the delights of Dublin.”
