A special dinner raised more than £160,000 towards the campaign to build the north-east’s biggest mosque.
The event, organised by the Alhikmah Foundation at the Hilton Treetops Hotel in Aberdeen, was the latest in a string of projects in aid of the Masjid Alhikmah project.
Guests, who included Aberdeen’s Lord Provost, were invited to buy one of 20 bricks which will be used in the foundations of the group’s new building.
Fund-raisers are now more than halfway towards meeting their £1.7million target.
The new centre on the city’s Nelson Street is currently under construction and those who purchased a slab will be invited to lay it in the concrete.
The premises will feature a space for worship, funeral preparations, dedicated women’s facilities and a family community centre.
A spokesman for the group said it was hoped the new location would help to foster a sense of harmony between Moslems and other north-east residents.
He added: Masjid Alhikmah will be a community facility and it is fitting that every penny spent on the project will come through the fundraising efforts of those who support the project.
“Supporters come from all backgrounds, all giving generously to help us realise our vision.”
Another substantial donation came from the auction of a case holding a square of Kiswah – the black cloth used to cover the Kaabah at Mecca – which was sold for £3,500.
