Clocks go forward for the start of Spring this weekend, but snow will be back

Snow is forecast across much of the Highlands and the north on Sunday night.

There’s plenty of reasons to be happy this morning: it’s sunny, it’s Friday and the clocks will go forward this weekend meaning we’ll have more time to enjoy those long, warm(ish) Scottish evenings.

People across Moray and Aberdeenshire enjoyed a sunny start to the day today, and the fair weather is set to keep going until later this afternoon.

However, those in the western and northern Highlands, as well as the Islands, will be facing a much more dreary outlook this Friday as heavy rain will persist throughout the day, before clearing in the early evening.

Scotland is forecast to be covered in heavy rain from the early hours of Saturday morning all the way up to midday.

Overnight the forecast is truly miserable, as heavy rain, and even squalls of snow are forecast to batter windows across Scotalnd overnight, only to clear up by later on in the morning tomorrow, giving way to even more sunshine in the north-east by around mid day.

Looking further into the weekend heavy snow has been forecast for many parts of Scotland on Saturday night into Sunday morning, including the central Highlands, parts of the west coast, and around Inverness.

And although Monday morning might seem far away, heavy snow is forecast to fall over most of Scotland on Sunday night, meaning your Monday morning commute might take a little longer.
