Teen girls left ‘scared and uncomfortable’ after flasher exposed himself at bus stop

Two teenage girls were left frightened and disturbed after a serial flasher exposed himself to them at a bus stop just yards from Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Steven Moir made and held eye contact with the 15-year-olds as they waited for a bus on Castle Street in Aberdeen, before exposing his private parts to them.

The 63-year-old, who has previous convictions for public indecency, was urinating at first but after spotting the girls nearby he appeared to touch himself indecently.

Fiscal depute Lydia Ross told the city’s sheriff court the incident occurred around 11.15pm on August 18 last year.

‘Stared at girls with penis exposed’

“One girl described hearing what she described as a ‘waterfall’ from behind her. She turned to see what the noise was, and she observed the accused, who was standing near to them with his trousers down and penis exposed, urinating,” Miss Ross said.

“He was not holding anything with his hands. She notified the other girl who turned and also observed this act. The saw accused stare at them, with his penis exposed for several minutes.”

Miss Ross said Moir then took hold of his penis and appeared to be carrying out a sex act.

The court heard how the girls felt “scared and uncomfortable” as a result of Moir’s actions and began to shout at him to leave them alone.

“A member of the public who had been flagged down by the complainers challenged the accused over his actions, which caused him to leave the area,” the fiscal added.

“Police attended and spoke with the complainers, traced the accused, and they located him intoxicated on Union Street in Aberdeen.”

Taco Bell incident

Moir also admitted exposing himself on March 9 last year he was seen by three members of the public on Great Northern Road “hunched, facing a wall and urinating against it” at around 2.20pm.

“After a few moments, the accused turned to face Great Northern Road, naked from the waist. His trousers and underwear were down around his ankles,” the fiscal added.

“Witnesses who had observed the accused hunched facing the wall described
the accused as appearing to struggle to pull up his trousers and did not see him touch his penis.

“One witness who had headed home from work along Great Northern Road approached TSB and Taco Bell and observed the accused standing off the near side on the pavement, underneath the Taco Bell sign, with his trousers and underwear down around his ankles, his right hand on his exposed penis and his left hand raised above his head.”

Police were contacted again on this occasion.

‘He has problems with drink’

Moir, who has been held in custody at HMP Grampian since the incident involving the teen girls, admitted charges of public indecency and indecent exposure.

Defence agent Peter Keene said his client was no stranger to the court but that there had been “potholes of time” when he has not been at the attention of police.

“He has problems with drink,” he added. “A period of supervision could be of assistance.”

Sheriff Mungo Bovey handed Moir, a prisoner of HMP Grampian, a two-year supervision order, placed him on the sex offender’s register and granted his release from jail.
