The collision occurred on the B9170 road, between Methlick and New Deer, at about 5.10pm. An ambulance service spokesman confirmed there are two ambulances in attendance, and one motorist has serious injuries. The fire and rescue service has using cutting gear to free one of the drivers, who is now being treated by paramedics. Two appliances from Maude and Ellon – with 12 firefighters on board – are preparing to leave the scene. The other driver has been described as “walking wounded”. UPDATE: An ambulance service spokesman had initially reported the accident had involved two lorries.
