Rapping twins from Aberdeen have teamed up with a former X Factor star to launch a single on the evils of bullying.

Bridge of Don brothers Mark and Darren Scott, better known at SHY and DRS, will release ‘Beautiful to Me’ on November 13 featuring Janet Devlin, who appeared in the 2011 series of the popular programme.

The duo said the song encourages listeners to feel good about themselves no matter their appearance, and they plan to go on tour with it at secondary schools across the country.

The twins, who attended the city’s Oldmachar Academy, released their debut album in June 2013 which features collaborations with chart-topper Sandi Thom and 70’s rock legends Nazareth.

Darren, 31, said the song brought back memories of his own struggle against bullies.

He said: “The song is centralised around the theme of bullying and body image.

“It encapsulates the message that everyone is beautiful and should feel beautiful despite how they look or how others treat them.

“Both ourselves and Janet Devlin have been affected by bullying in the past hence the reason for doing the song together.

“The single will also be backed by various anti-bullying charities across the UK such as ChildLine, Ditch the Label and NSPCC with 20 percent of all download sales going to these charities. We are hoping this will be our fourth official top 40 chart hit.

“To further spread the anti-bullying message, we will be performing at academies around Scotland.”
