An award-winning photographer, artist and cat enthusiast is exhibiting his work in the Granite City.
Jason McGroarty’s is showcasing two of his major projects in Aberdeen – Cat Couture and Project Totem.
His feline project has brought Mr McGroarty both notoriety and international exposure, capturing fashion portraits of
his partner’s cat Hummus in various colourful outfits.
Hummus, who suffers from feline leukaemia, is unable to go outside, and likes to dress up.
She has featured as a vampire cat, a hippy, an 80s prom night puss and even a Jedi.
From New York to Kiev, his photography has been exhibited in London’s famous Oxo Tower and work has recently been selected for the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition.
Totem looks at how the wild “breaches the barriers of the big city and reminds us that we are not as safe as we like to think” – with an owl, a bear and a fox pictured out of context in urban settings.
The top photographer chose Musa to host his solo exhibition for a number of reasons.
Most, of all he said because it shared a passion for creating exciting, visual stories.
“I am thrilled to be exhibiting in the heart of Aberdeen, a place I hold so close to my own,” said Mr McGroarty.
The Irish artist has a number of gongs to his name, with three awards under his belt last year including conceptual photographer of the year and fine art photographer of the year titles.
The artwork will be displayed on March 7, with a wine reception and meet and greet with the artist.
The event starts at 6pm.
