Fire crews received a call shortly before 1.30pm today after concerned members of the public contacted the RSPB. Rescuers used a hoist to save the bird after it became trapped near the Schuh store, opposite the entrance to the St Nicholas Centre. One eyewitness said: “The poor thing was just hanging there by its wing.” Crew confirmed the bird will be put in the care of the RSPB. A local shop worker said it happens a couple of times a year.
