A north-east charity is appealing to locals to take a walk on the wild side this summer.
VSA is one of this year’s official charity partners for the Kiltwalk, which takes place in June.
The event, which challenges members of the public to trek either 26 miles or eight miles, raises funds for children’s charities across the country.
Aberdeen-based VSA provides care and support to youngsters with additional needs and young carers.
The charity launched its appeal for people to sign up to the event at the VSA-run Maisie’s Children’s Centre on Richmondhill Place.
Cary Tamm heads up corporate business development for the organisation.
He said: “VSA supports thousands of people in our local community, but it’s only through the generous donations that we are able to offer the services we do.
“Any help that the public can offer is greatly received and makes a huge difference to peoples’ lives.”
The 26-mile walk starts at the city’s Duthie Park, goes along the Deeside Way and finishes up at Potarch, Aberdeenshire.
The shorter, eight-mile walk starts off in Banchory and meets up with the longer walk at the finishing line.
Lord Provost of Aberdeen George Adam is president of VSA and was at the nursery to help launch the appeal.
Mr Adam said: “VSA relies on the generosity and donations from the people of Aberdeen and the north-east.
“I have visited this nursery on several occasions and I am always impressed by the warm welcome and the atmosphere in the place.
“It’s a project that VSA can be proud of, as is all of the charity’s work.
“The Kiltwalk is a great way of supporting a great charity by raising money. But it could also be a part of your fitness regime. I was just reading the other day how walking adds years to your life – so get walking.”
