Users of a popular Aberdeenshire woodland are being asked for their views on how to keep it at its best in the coming years.
Den Wood, near Oldmeldrum, has been supported by Woodland Trust Scotland since 1992.
Since then, the trust has helped to provide an informal car park for visitors as well as creating a revised path network increasing accessibility and opening up new areas of the wood to the public.
Now the trust is asking people for feedback on its revised management plan as part of its five-year review.
Depending on the comments – and subject to funding – the trust hopes to resurface existing paths and replace steps and boardwalks in 2017.
The plan also outlines hopes of removing tubes from planted trees once no longer needed for protection and carrying out rabbit control if required to protect trees.
Site manager Jill Aiken said: “Den Wood is one of only a few accessible woodlands in the area.
“It’s popular with local dog walkers and we want to continue to make improvements to benefit both visitors and wildlife.
“I’d really like to hear people’s views on the wood and our future plans for its management.”
A spokesman for Woodland Trust Scotland said: “The management plans for our sites come under review approximately every five years.
“Since the Woodland Trust has supported Den Wood it has made a significant difference to maintaining the wood which has been very popular with dog walkers.
“The trust has also enabled access to new areas through a reformed path network which has meant that the wood remains as a lovely location for families and individuals to visit as time goes on.”
