A woman who ended up in court after a Christmas holiday break in the far north turned sour ran into more trouble when she failed to comply with a sheriff’s order to make a further appearance.
A warrant was issued at Wick Sheriff Court for Shikyra Henry’s arrest and she appeared, from custody, yesterday.
The court heard previously that Henry, 24, travelled almost 600 miles to John O’ Groats to get a break from her problems.
She admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at one of Natural Retreats’ lodges at John O’ Groats, on Christmas Day and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The accused got involved in an argument with three males, one of whom was her brother, and a family friend. Henry was then described as “going nuts” and began looking for a knife and was observed waving it about.
She lashed out at the trio but was restrained. Police found her walking along the A9.
Henry, of Norman Road, Rugby, initially gave police officers a false name. She was said to be a cannabis user among other personal issues and thought that celebrating Christmas in Scotland would help alleviate her stress.
The court was told that she had had no intention of harming anyone at the holiday lodge but only wanted the knife to self harm and had, in fact, sustained an injury to one of her fingers.
Henry, a gemologist, was granted bail and was, originally ordered to reappear for sentence on January 20 but failed to do so.
Sheriff Andrew Berry, who called for a report, commented that Henry’s record contained an offence involving a knife and described the current crime as “serious”. He ordered her to be further remanded until February 28.
