A Moray man who bit off part of his victim’s ear in a sickening assault has been warned he faces being locked up.
James Donald, who is currently a prisoner at Polmont, brutally attacked Shane Drury in Forres on May 4.
The 20-year-old also struck permanently scarred and risked the life of Jamie Stephen during another separate knife attack in Elgin.
Yesterday, the Moray man was told further time in custody was almost “inevitable” after he pleaded guilty to three assault charges at Elgin Sheriff Court.
Donald repeatedly punched Mr Drury on the head at an address on Hainings North in Forres before biting off a piece of his left ear, which left the victim permanently injured and severely injured.
Then, on two occasions on August 17, the youth assaulted Adrian Foster at a property on Dean of Guild Way in Elgin by repeatedly punching him on the head.
On the same day, he also struck Mr Stephen to the face with a knife, or similar weapon, leaving him permanently disfigured and severely injured.
Prosecutors have described the ordeal as being “to the danger of the life” of Mr Stephen.
Yesterday, defence advocate Gavin Anderson declined to make any comments in support of his client until his next court appearance.
Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov told Donald that he faced being sentenced to further time behind bars when he next appears in the dock.
She said: “Due to the nature of the charges, it is likely that a custodial sentence is inevitable.”
Sentence was deferred on Donald, who was remanded in custody, until December 12 in order for background reports to be prepared.
