Unpleasant comments about an Inverness man’s mother prompted him to send his former partner abusive and threatening messages.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 21-year-old Corey Sturrock, who is now married, had split up with Angela Mackenzie three years earlier.
But defence solicitor Neil Wilson said the “sudden outburst of venom after three years” was because of comments made by Miss Mackenzie to his client’s mother.
“He was full of drink and sent the messages.” Mr Wilson added.
Sturrock, of Oldtown Road, admitted threatening behaviour on May 9 and was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid community work.
