Aberdeen teenagers who tormented snake ordered to complete unpaid work

Two teenagers who threw a snake across the road – after one of them spun it around in the air – have been ordered to complete unpaid work.

Frankie Kane and Yasmin Walker, also known as Doherty, carried out the “disgusting behaviour” in Aberdeen on July 4.

The boa constrictor – which went missing from owner Robert Norman’s home in Marischal Court – was later found at Aberdeen beach.

The three-year-old pet, called Esmerelda, was taken to the Scottish SPCA’s Drumoak Rescue and Rehoming Centre but died shortly afterwards.

The pair appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today after they admitted tormenting the snake at an earlier hearing.

Doherty, 18, of Marischal Court was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work and Kane, 19, of Printfield Walk was ordered to complete 80 hours.

Footage emerged on social media of the pair throwing the snake around, with one of the women seen throwing it across the road.
