Natalja Pavluka entered The Fountain Bar drunk and caused disruption in May 2021.

A drunk woman interrupted a domino game in an Aberdeen pub by smashing a player’s glass before later assaulting several police officers as they tried to put her in the cells.

Natalja Pavluka entered The Fountain Bar in Aberdeen after consuming one too many drinks and started bothering customers.

After being asked to leave the Great Northern Road pub, Pavluka refused and caused disruption to two gentlemen playing dominoes by starting to drink one of the player’s beers.

A barman attempted to take away the drink before Pavluka, 35, threw the glass at him causing it to smash on the floor.

After her arrest, her behaviour in the cells was so bad an emergency alarm had to be activated.

Threw a glass at bar staff

Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose told Aberdeen Sheriff Court that police received calls from the public reporting a disturbance on Donbank Terrace on May 23 last year.

Four minutes after the call, Pavluka entered The Fountain Bar appearing drunk at around 1.50pm.

The fiscal said: “Upon entering, she started to cause a nuisance to patrons. She was asked to leave the bar due to her behaviour and level of intoxication.

“She thereafter refused and continued to walk around the premises. She then walked over to two males who were playing dominoes and picked up one of the male’s beers and started to drink it.

“Due to the inappropriate behaviour, a member of staff went to grab the glass from the accused and in doing so, she threw the glass of beer at him.

“The glass didn’t connect with him, it was deflected by him and it smashed on the floor.”

The fiscal told how the mum was escorted from the premises and police were contacted.

After officers saw the CCTV footage of the incident, they arrested her and took her to Kittybrewster police station.

Officers tackled her to the ground

Pavluka was placed in a cell and was asked to remove her jumper and shoes. When she refused and became aggressive, an officer entered her cell and “had to take hold of her to control her volatile behaviour”.

She stomped on that officer’s foot and grabbed another by the arm, squeezing tightly, before she was tackled to the ground and the alarm was sounded for additional officers to assist.

She then continued to assault the two other officers and a police custody officer.

“She struck an officer in the side of her head and grabbed onto her hair,” the fiscal continued.

“She continued to lash out at the officers during which time she bit one of the officers on the left hand then grabbed, pinched and twisted the skin of an officer’s arm.

“After a while, she calmed down and officers left the cell when it was safe to do so.”

‘You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself’

Pavluka, who has no recollection of the events, appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted to one charge of assault and three charges of police assault.

Defence agent Michael Burnett said: “She had been drinking to excess and whilst her conduct in the bar is still an offence, it was one of these situations where it was only credited worse by her conduct thereafter when the police became involved.

“It escalated and unfortunately she has acted out.”

Sheriff William Summers described Pavluka’s behaviour as “disgraceful” and said she should be “thoroughly ashamed” of herself.

He added he was “particularly troubled” by her behaviour towards police officers saying they should be able to carry out their job without “being subject to abuse”.

Pavluka, of Summer Street, Aberdeen, was sentenced to a community payback order with a supervision requirement for 12 months and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
