An Aberdeen man is facing historic charges that he threw a child into a cupboard and beat her so hard she experienced blurred vision and vomited.
Colin Dick, 54, is accused of a series of assaults against four children and a woman over the course of nearly 20 years at addresses across Aberdeen and at a caravan park near Edinburgh.
One charge alleges that he sat on top of one child and caused her breathing to become restricted before carrying out an attack on the girl that saw her strike her head on rocks.
The charge claims that Dick also forced the child into a cupboard and beat her so hard she suffered blurred vision and was sick.
Dick is also accused of pulling another child out of a chair and dragging her up a set of stairs.
He denies all the charges against him.
Charges claim alleged victim was only four
During a hearing on the case at Aberdeen Sheriff Court it was stated that Dick faces a total of eight charges related to incidents between December 21 2004 and February 13 last year.
One of the charges alleges that Dick assaulted two of the children when they were as young as four and five.
Another accuses him of punching a woman so hard she lost consciousness.
Dick also faces a charge that he seized one child by the body and pulled her up a staircase where she struck her head.
Accused allegedly breached bail with gifts
In addition to those charges, he faces two charges related to assaulting a child by sitting on top of them and forcing another child to the floor and placing his hand over her mouth.
It’s alleged that some of the children suffered a severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life.
Dick is also accused of acting in a threatening manner towards the children by shouting, swearing, acting aggressively and uttering derogatory remarks.
The final charge alleges that he breached a bail condition not to approach two of the complainers by sending text messages and leaving gifts at their front door.
Dick’s solicitor Kevin Longino reiterated his client’s not guilty pleas to all eight charges on his behalf.
Sheriff Graham Buchanan continued the case until next month.
