BMX bandit pulled knife on women and demanded money

Jack Ogilvy admitted the charges at Inverness Sheriff Court
Jack Ogilvy admitted the charges at Inverness Sheriff Court

A man demanded money from two women while holding a knife, before riding off on a BMX.

Jack Ogilvy told one woman that she owed him £15 from “years ago” and the other that she owed him £20.

His confused victims insisted they owed him nothing before calling the police – prompting Ogilvy to flee on his bike.

Ogilvy, 20, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court to admit two counts of assault and one of possessing a knife in a public place.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court that the incident occurred just after 8pm on May 25 last year.

She said one of the victims was at her home address in Forres with her partner when they heard a knock at the door.

They opened the door and saw Ogilvy.

‘Where’s my money?’

“He immediately started shouting ‘Where’s my money? I want my money!'” Mrs Gair said.

The woman maintained that she did not owe him any money, but he took a knife from his pocket “still shouting about what he was owed”.

The second victim, who had been visiting the first, arrived at the scene and also found herself being asked for money.

“She went into the house and saw the accused with the knife,” Mrs Gair said.

He shouted: “Where the f**k is my money? The £15 from like, two years ago?”

As the altercation continued he told the first woman it was £20 she owed him.

One complainer managed to dial 999 on her mobile and turned the phone onto speaker so that Ogilvy was aware the call was being made.

Knifeman’s BMX getaway

Two of the three present then managed to shut him outside the front door, after which he was spotted riding past on a “small, black, BMX-type bike”

Police traced Ogilvy, of Kinloss Caravan Park, and he was cautioned and charged.

Solicitor Robert Cruickshank pointed out his client’s young age and lack of criminal record.

Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald called for pre-sentencing reports, saying: “You have pled guilty to some very serious offences.”

The case will call again later this month.
